Mark and I have both been really busy with work and cabin improvements. Our downstairs guest room/gym is pretty much done for now. We've completed phase I but won't start phase II (Murphy bed installation) until the spring. We don't have it totally set up yet but here is a preview of our (mostly Mark ;) hard work!
You may remember from an earlier post the amazing shag carpet. We ripped that out and put in hardwood floors, painted a tan color on the walls (can't really tell from this photo), scrapped and repainted the ceiling, and painted the trim. I think we're off to a good start!
Another project I've been working on for the past two weeks is refinishing a cool table I found at a flea market a couple of months ago. As usual I forgot to take a before photo but this guy was in pretty bad shape. I stripped it by hand, used some woodworking tools to get the old paint out of the detail work, and sanded and painted for hours. Here are the fruits of my labor! It did turn out quite a bit more pink than I intended but I think I did a pretty good job!
The next project is getting the downstairs bathroom done. We've done the demo, stripped the wallpaper, repaired the walls, primed, so now we're just waiting on our floor tile to come in. As I wandered around Home Depot last week looking lost and obviously out of my element, a young guy came to my rescue and explained tiling in a nutshell. Holy cats, way more work than I originally thought. We're putting in tile on the floor as well as subway tile on the walls so we have a lot of work ahead of us. Our goal is to get it done by Christmas...wish us luck!!!!
Here are some "inspiration" photos:

Mark and I are headed home on Thursday for Thanksgiving so unfortunately we won't have much time to work on the cabin. One of the other new things for Mark and I this year is that we decided to get a Christmas tree and actually decorate this year! I'm looking forward to it although I have no idea when one is supposed to do that. I'm thinking it will be a project for next week but I'll be sure to post pics when we get it done.
Lastly, a photo message from the Bijstress encouraging everyone to remember to recycle this holiday season ;)
