FINALLY!!!

So, let's face it...I kind of blow at blogging.  I have, however, been waiting for Mark and I to finish the bathroom to post and obviously I thought we'd be finished much sooner than now.  Well, we're about 99% of the way there so I thought today was the day I'd post some pics!

I didn't do a great job of taking any "before" photos but here is one that our real estate agent took for us when she did our final walk-through.

It was dark and sketchy and had gross beige linoleum floors...just bad news.  I had previously posted some "inspiration" photos but here is the real deal in all her glory.  There are countless hours, and lots of blood, sweat, and tears in this bathroom....enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Did you do all of the tiling yourselves?  Yep, we did everything ourselves!  Mark and I had never tiled before but taught ourselves and Mark did all of the plumbing and electrical!
  2. Where did you find those cool white with black cabinet doors?  They're original to the house and I  hand-painted them.  You'll see that design show up A LOT in future renovations :)
  3. Is the sink vintage?  Yep, it's a cast-iron Kohler pedestal sink from the 60s.  The faucet is new though.
  4. Did you throw away that sweet Flinstone toilet seat???  Nope, it's hanging proudly in our garage ;)
Oh, I also took some more "after" photos of the downstairs bedroom/gym we did.  I think I posted one or two "before" photos previously....you may remember the amazing brown/orange shag carpet...

We still have some finishing touches to do on the gym but it's getting there!

As I mentioned Mark and I had planned to finish the bathroom about a month ago but with the holidays, our work schedules, and a few work trips for Mark we couldn't quite get it done.  Mark has been doing great at work though and actually won a couple of bonuses for greatly exceeding his goals for his branch...that's my guy!

I am still working full time for the same client in the Cities and that has been going great.  I get to do a job I really enjoy and do it from my sofa with my trusty sidekick so it's just that much sweeter.  Here is said "sidekick" hard at work:

For those of you not on the book of faces, the other big news for the winter is that we bought two snowmobiles and a boat!  Pretty crazy!  I'd never been on a snowmobile before but as it turns out, it is really fun!!!!  Unfortunately it has been FREEZING here so we haven't taken them out as much as we'd like but have been able to get out a couple of times.  We don't have the boat and boat lift just yet but we'll go get them in a couple of months - photos to come!

Hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start!

  1. The Bathroom looks Great!
The tiling on the floor looks great, but I'm sure it was tedious, I would have probably changed my mind 1/3 of the way through for larger tile. :)

    I hope you are well,
    Ivie
